Free Physical Fitness Routines

Have you been logging hours on the track field or in the gym only to find that the tale of the tape has changed very little, if at all? It just might be that what you call a power walk is nothing more than a leisurely stroll. You need to increase the level of your Workout Routine. A study published in the journal Preventive Medicine, says that people often overestimate the intensity of their workouts. During the study, 66 men and women kept records of how long and how intense they felt they worked out for two weeks. Estimates were then checked against a heart rate monitor. Study participants didn't intentionally inflate their estimates on the length of their workouts. At least half of them said that their workouts were moderate and lasted for 10 minutes. But according to the heart monitors only 15 percent of them actually did.
It's a lot easier to determine the time and distance of your workout than to determine just how intense your workout actually is. Miscalculating the effectiveness of your workout can have repercussions. If you think your workouts are effective and intensity levels are adequate but they are not, you may tend to eat too much and consequently gain weight. This happens because underestimating your workout intensity level will result in not enough calories being burned for you to lose weight. However, even low intensity level workouts are far better than no workout at all.
So what is the best way to tell if your workout intensity is high enough to burn an optimum amount of calories? The best way is to use a heart rate monitor/calorie counter. These can cost from $60 and up. But if you don't want to spend the money it would cost to get a decent model, (like the Mio™ Heart Rate Monitor Calorie Counter), you can use a less expensive, but less accurate method. Try this. Talk out loud during your workout. During a moderate workout you should be able to detail a short grocery list. But if you're able to give a blow by blow account of the last episode of your favorite soap opera you should probably step up the pace a bit. To give your workout an extra added boost, try walking or running to an upbeat Hip-Hop or Latin tune. Use a course with hills or run up and down the stairs of your high school or college stadium. It is also good to workout with a friend who is in better shape than you are.

Chesapeake Living

I went to a barbecue yesterday at my pastor’s house. Our church puts on a lot of Christian plays. I’m the lighting designer/director for the plays we put on. One of the rewards of being an actor, cast member or crewmember of our drama ministry is the party afterwards. I have a serious love of the ocean. I call the Atlantic Ocean my ocean. I am simply in love with the Atlantic Ocean and the bays and intercoastal waterways of the east coast. For those of you on the west coast who have an affinity to the Pacific…well I’ve been to the Pacific Ocean, I’ve been swimming in it, I have fished it and it is beautiful but I’m really an east coast kind of guy. I’ve seen the Gulf of Mexico and observed the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life over it. But I’m still an east coast kind of guy.

But back to the barbecue. The barbecue, as I said was at my pastor’s house. The house sits right on the Chesapeake Bay in a small town on Maryland’s eastern shore. I live in a small town that borders Philly in Pennsylvania. There is a lot of water in and around Maryland and it is one of the places I want to move to and own property and real estate. One of my biggest dreams is to own a saltwater marina either on the Atlantic Ocean, Delaware or Chesapeake Bays. There are a lot of condominiums for sale on the eastern shore of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and I’ve got plans to purchase a few of them. If things really go as I plan the marina I buy will have a condo or two with it.

Forgive me for rambling. I want to get to the point. I took the photos of the house on the bay and wanted visitors to this blog to see them. The house sits on a bank in a rural area of Maryland. Cornfields and woods surround it. It’s a very quiet area except when our church has its little outings there with tons of kids running around and jumping in and out of the pool. Deer roam the grounds freely and it’s just a beautiful place. I know this house must be worth a few million dollars. Maybe I’ll make my pastor an offer to buy it.

Well anyway, enjoy the photos. If you love saltwater and anything that has to do with saltwater living visit my Beach and Seashore web site. I’ll be posting reviews of different places I visit along the Atlantic coast. From time to time I may write about Pacific or Gulf coast locations as well. If you would like to post any coastal related (Saltwater only) information like real estate, property, boats, yachts for sale, whatever, just post it on the comment section of this blog and I’ll see to it that it gets added to my web site. Enjoy the photos.
